Th. S. Haukenæs (1840–1914) was a Norwegian writer, folklorist and collector of local history from Granvin in Hardanger. He devoted much of his life to recording the stories, traditions, legends, beliefs and everyday life of Western Norway. Drawing on oral accounts and local sources, Haukenæs preserved a wealth of material that might otherwise have been lost. His books remain valuable sources for the cultural history and folklore of Hardanger and neighbouring districts.
